I have a huge raccoon problem and I was wondering how could I get rid of the animal without calling the ASPCA or hurting it. It keeps knocking over my trashcans and I can't take it anymore. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks for the advice; I'd put the trash can in the garage if I had one. I wish I could put it in the cellar, but it's too small.

I used to work for a pest control company and we dealt with these little pests all the time. We used live traps to catch them and then release them far away from the home they were bothering. Most places like Home Depot sell live traps. And you can use cat food or sardines, just make sure if you have cats to keep them in the house the night you set the trap. Get a trash can with a locking top. It'll keep raccoons & cats out, even if knocked over.

Put your trash cans in a garage, shed or the house.
