Why do people think Christians are provincial?

I look around at the people who attend my church and I see a guy who was formerly employed as an enforcer, another guy who owns a company worth 50M, bikers, mechanics, insurance agents.
Where did the idea that Christians are weak minded people who can't think for themselves come from?

People who use this as another excuse to not humble themsleves to the King. I know because I used to be the same way.
