I bought a computer microphone a couple of months ago from best buy for like 10 bucks, and when i plug it in the red slot on the back, i hear the microphone, but other people cant hear it, no matter what. i checked the settings for the program i use, and there fine, so im assuming its my mic. any ideas?

what do u mean by i can hear the microphone..? in case u mean than u can hear ur voice tru the microphone, then there is some problem with the settings.. try switchin it on n off n make sure that the mute button is not on..

ok double click the volume icn and see if mic shows,if it does click mute, that will stop you hearing yourself, then click options and properties, then click recordind button and tick mic on the list if not ticked, this time make sure its not muted and turn volume of it to about half to 3/4.come out of these windows on the program you are using to talk to people check the preferences and check your soundcard is selected as the input or mic used and that should do it

Make sure that the red input is for the mic and not the LINE IN input.
