There was a show on the Discovery channel the other day about Tootsie Pops. Apparently there was a study from a MIT grad where he set up a machine that used wet sponges to "Lick" a tootsie pop. It counted 327 "Licks".
Every time I've ever counted, I've gotten a random amount over 300, but less than 350. Then again, that's only to expose a part of the tootsie roll center, not to completely uncover it.

According to the owl, 1, 2, 3 (crunch) 3, it takes 3 licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop

A group of engineering students from Purdue University recorded that their licking machine, modeled after a human tongue, took an average of 364 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. They tried the same licking test on 20 volunteers and found that the average licks to the center were 252 licks.

I tried it once and it was over 1000, BUT it just depends on the Tootsie Pop, because the center may be off-center and it just depends on which side you're licking. It may only take you 1000 on one side and 2000 on the other side! And it is so hard not to bite into it before you reach the center!!!

Well not too many for me, I can't stand waiting to get to the center so I just start chopping away to it!!
But I guess I might lick it 2 or 3 times...hey come to think of it..The owl was right......Dang!!!

I tried it the other night. 312 was what I had and the chewy center was exposed on both sides, with the tiniest strip of hard candy around the edge.

are you serious (what are you talking about the candy or something else,not many licks for me because i don't lick the candy till it's gone i bite it before i even lick it.
