Some people make fun of Canadians because they really don't know a lot about them. They create stereotypes of Canadians from what they here from others.
By the way I've been to Canada and I think it's pretty awesome.

I love Canadians. I think people who make fun of Canadians are silly. Like the movie Canadian Bacon where the Americans pretend Canada is invading. It's a spoof on America, not really Canada.

It's just amiable rivalry between different countries. The British and the French are always having a go at each other and pretending themselves are so much better than the other. However, in times of trouble we still know how to work together.

To be honest, I think Canadians make more fun of Americans (I live in Saskatchewan, BTW). Have you ever seen Rick Mercer's "Talking to Americans"? That's a classic example.
EDIT: The guy above me just proved the arrogance of some Americans.."8 planes and 15 soldiers"??? Gimme a break there buddy..

I don't see that much of that going on. Some of it seems good natured, not really bitter or hateful. The humor directed against Mexico and Mexicans is often genuinely evil, I just don't see that kind of evil hate directed against Canada. I admire Canada, it seems like a very sensible country not infested with political idiots like the US. They have a very fine health care system that the American people would love to emulate but they can't and won't because they are shallow and get propagandized by the drug and "health" insurance industries--Canada is sane, America is absurd.

It kinda works like this. When I was on a tour in Italy to climb mount Vesuvius there was an austrailian fellow and and a canadian gentleman sitting in front of us. somehow they got on the subject and the Canadian fellow was asked what he thought about America, seeing as how he is a next door neighbor to us, and his reply was not that he didn't like Americans but that he hated our government. After hearing this I took notice to the rest of the conversation. listening to him continue on and on about our country I began to sit back and just listen to the complete ignorance to our system and what it was that he thought he hated(naturally with all the errors in his perception what he hated wasn't America at all). Rather than correct him I let him continue on about such and such and sat with a smile. Then he got to the part of the conversation that was downing our military. I started to interject when it came to the might of our country, but thinking of how I could convey that while America's millitary may be large and brute force, I came to the realization that saying that would just be redundant...... millitary / brute force strength.... they are one in the same. His criticism of this aspect of our country just left me with a single thought. If there were ever a situation where canada needed protection what would they use.... their 8 planes and 15 soldiers? It comes down to this...... I don't really look down on canadians... just think that the ones I have met are comical and ignorant...
How's that?

I don't make fun of Canadians, but I have seen quite a few Canadians make fun of Americans. I just brush it off.

Our media is way to liberal to make fun of Canadians. Not sure what you are talking about. I doubt it has anything to do with draft dodgers or thilidamide babies or the Canadian mounty cartoon
