They will do something right around the All-Star break, probably with Abreu and maybe Giambi. They will be looking for a big bat at 1B but with that pitching it will not help, you do not get inot the postseason by trying to outscore teams in the 12 runs per game range.

A-Rod stays put for this year.

I think the Yankees must make a trade to stir things up but who might go is unsure.

My opinion could be Jason Giambi or Bobby Abreu to surrender some of the payroll and pick up a couple of players ,preferably help in the bullpen and a position player who would take up the slack gone by either player's absence and get 2 players for price of one.

Has a die hard Yankees fan I would have to say yes. I see them going aggresively after Mark Texeira. He is a gold glove first baseman and a much better bat than anything they have at first right now and he would thrive playing in Yankee Stadium. I see a trade something along the lines of Bobby Abreu and one there young pitching prospects like Tyler Clippard or Matt DeSalvo who have both shown good stuff, more so Clippard. I would honestly be suprised to see A-Rod get traded during the season, but do see him opting out after this year of his contract, no matter what he is saying now.

If the Yankees make a big trade, I see them dumping salaries. Bobby Abreu to a contender for some prospects is probably the most likely, as he'll be a free agent at the end of the season.

Yes. I expect them to try and push A-rod before he can leave them after the season, Giambi and Abreu are also likely to be shipped away. Look for them to try for Dontre Willis or another strong starter or a reliever which has been their downfall so far this season. Bob Wickman or Tom Gordon may become expendable at their current location as both have young or more talented people behind them, maybe even Otsuka.

They need quality pitching- starting or relief BADLY...and Clemens will be nice but not enough. You need at least decent pitching to go anywhere. They do not need Teixeira or Helton or any more bats. They are loaded on offense and can expend one of their big bats for pitching. One scenario I have heard is A-Rod to the Angels for a couple of solid arms...it's a good swap as the Angels need a big bat to protect Vlad and are overloaded with good, young pitchers that could help the Yankees turn things around...

Very few. may changes are made to dump salaries. Too many Yankees have too big a value that no one would want to take them.
At best, a couple minor leaguers for a journeyman relief pitcher.
I thought signing Roger Clemens would solve all their problems.
P S Between you and me, watch the Yankees win 15 of 20, and everybody will say "how about them Yankees!!""

I'm pretty sure that according to their 40 - man roster, they will trade relievers and add in a few rookies for some long inning starters which the yankees are desperate for.

They might trad Melky Cabrerra and a few other prospects for Dontrelle Willis of the marlins of for Mark Texiera of the rangers. Willis or Texiera will either go to NYY NYM BOS BAL

Yes. I think it will be something stupid like:

Melky & a prospect for Andruw Jones (that would be dumb)

I could see a similar deal coming through for Adam Dunn.

Seriously, their biggest need is at 1B, so they might deal for Teixera or maybe even ichie Sexson. We'll see, but they better do something if they want to keep Clemens happy...
