I started potty training my daughter when she was 9 months old and was able to walk on her own. I got her one of those little potties, and every time I went to the bathroom I took her in and sat her on her potty. I don't know if hearing me go helped, but it worked. In no time she was potty trained and it was fabulous. There was one downfall, she's twelve now, and I still can't go to the bathroom alone. She constantly barges in on me. It's annoying.

My step mother says she had her daughter potty-trained at 9 months. Both my daughters were potty trained by the time they were 2. I think when they start walking is a good time to begin introducing them to the potty. And the BEST thing you can do is bring your daughter (and your husband bring your son) into the restroom with you so that they can SEE how it is done. Worked wonders for me. Some advice that I would give you is DO NOT use pull-ups!! They become a crutch. Let your child wet the bed a few times and they will begin to understand that they need to get up to use the bathroom. I have a friend who used pull-ups and her son ended up wearing them until he was 7 and my step-brother wore them until he was 10!!!! Good luck!! I hope it's easy for you =0)

I have two girls I started when they were about a year. When your child starts showing signs of knowing when they are wet (which I used cloth diapers). I just started with going though the motions and kept putting them on the potty. By the time they were 11/2 yrs old to 2 they were good to go. Sometimes it may be longer. Remember they train you, you don't train them.

As a preschool teacher of two year olds and a parent. I suggest not starting too early. You will have to deal with all the possible downfalls of it like possible late stage bed wetting and more accidents elsewhere. I tried potty training my first at a year and a half but she just didnt seem ready so when she entered preschool at two, she really started showing interest when her peers were peeing on the potty that she picked it up very quickly and we never had probems with accidence.
I really think it depends on each child. Some signs that they are ready are they tend to hold their bladder for longer periods of time, they tell you that they have gone potty in their diaper or that they need to go potty.

I saw on the new's once that some lady had potty trained her daughter at the age of 6 months. I think it was a bit extreme, your baby is only a baby once, let them enjoy pooping and peeing in a diaper! lol! so really, its up to u. but I would say around 11 months and up. It just takes time.

I started showing her around the bathroom at 18 months. But didn't really potty train until about 2. All kids are different. you just can't push them or it will turn into a power struggle.
