i think the did a really good job with it. and we knew it was coming. it just really surprised me, because now aaron and claire dont have a dad or husband.. well boyfriend i guess but still. it was so sad!! =[

he did an interview in TV Guide. he said he didn't mind dying as long as it was a hero's death. he liked being in the show, but was getting tired of doing the same things all the time and wanted to pursue other projects that he had to turn down if he stayed on Lost.

As far as I know, there were some contract issue with this rising star. He had just done tv interviews announcing his new role in Lost, but they killed him off too sudden. Not even in a flashback was he given a chance. That's too bad.
