I have been on a waiting list for almost a year now. I am a single mom of 5. They say that due to the fact I dont pay out more than half of my income to only rent and utilities I cant get moved up any on the list? Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get this process done any quicker? I need assistance!!

I used to be on section 8. It's been a long time, I suggest you check here: http://www.hud.gov/offices/pih/programs/hcv/psd.cfm
you can get info according to which state you live in.

Each local housing authority uses its own guidelines when it comes to disbursement of Sec 8 funding. Bear in mind that these funds are NOT unlimited to these housing authorities, and they attempt to provide funding to those in the most desperate straits. That is the reason that they are not moving you 'up the list'. They obviously consider other applicants more needy than you.
