Why are athletes held to a higher standard throughout society???

If I go to work and punch my co-worker in the head, chances are I'm going to jail...
But you find at least one fight a week in almost every major sport and nothing happens

If I get caught drinking and driving, chances are I'm going to jail
But if an athlete gets caught drinking and driving they're out on bond before they even set foot in a cell

If I get caught with drugs in my car, I'm going to jail.
But if you're an athlete you can say "its my friends crack pipe" and you're on your way..

If I drive drunk and kill myself, nobody is gonna talk about what a great person I was.
But when Josh Hancock (cardinals) does it, the media makes a huge deal about what a great guy he is, and his parents have the nerve to sue the bar he was at and the owner of the truck he ran into...and nobody sees an issue with this ???

If I cheat in school or at my job, I'm either getting kicked out or fired..but if an athlete does it, they say its "for the good of the game"..

Well, the fighting, drinking and drugs you talked about, athletes can buy their way out of those situations. Remember, money is everybodys bottom line, and athletes already have lawyers on retainer for anything, while we would have to go pay for one.

It's all about the almighty dollar, the more money you got, the more you can get away with, not just athletes, but anybody rich and famous.
