I like to consider myself progressive on this issue. I feel women should be able to wear their hair down in the winter to keep the warmer or wear it up in the summer to keep them cooler, but also wear it down in the summer if they want to as well. I personally don't feel a woman letting down her hair as being promiscuous because in a way it is being more modest by covering her neck. I think its uncaring of men to make women wear their hair up and then cover it with a headcovering of some sort. I feel women wearing a headcovering during a church or synagogue service is appropriate and ofcourse if the Temple was still standing and they were near, then yes that would make sense, but otherwise it should be left up them to choose. What do you all think?

A friend of my sister's comes from a Sri Lankan background and her father wont allow her to where her hair down at all. One time she had it down and her father called her ugly. Thats ridiculous and so disrespectful in my opinion!

I agree with you on all levels. Women should have the choice to put their hair in which ever way they want( A MAN SHOULDNT HAVE A SAY IN IT AT ALL!) but when it comes to religious places headcovering is appropiate. But the thing is there are many cultures and religions that involve these kinda rules and the men are the ones who mainly inforce it on women. I think its unfair but the women never have a say in anything, its sad.

I wear my hair as I feel like and if I wear up it usually means I didn't have time to fix it or its hot and If I wear down it that I had time to fix it and Iam going out.But any masculine can't tell me how to put my hair. Only if I was a super star and my hair styler well ask or my people tells me it is better up or down if not nop it is my decision. But honestly admire you because women in yahoo answer criticize you but they still answer your questions. What do yo have?

I agree with you, it is just stupid that men tell women what they have to wear and how to fix their hair. Instead of just accepting this, why don't they find out where their men got this info from. If God gave us beautiful hair then he did not give it to us to hide. Thoses men make up what they want, God gave every individual free will to make their own choices. That reminds me of certain other religions ppl follow what the priest or who ever say's and they do not Question where they get that from. It makes no sense to not research where they base their info from. As for the women they do not want them to research what they tell them to do. They might find out something.

How did I know it was gonna be you asking this question? My husband does not "allow" me to do anything. I allow myself to do things. He has no say in how I wear my hair or how I dress or anything. Hes not a controlling person and thats one of the many reasons why I love him so. You're going to have a very hard time finding a woman with that attitude of yours.

Yes, my husband lets me wear my hair down whenever I want to. Actually, he prefers it down. My hair is really, really long so there are times when I choose to wear it up. It just gets too many tangles from the wind.

No doubt about it. All to make them comfortable. In a church is a must to wear a headcover. I think it makes sense.

XOXO

Unless women follow certain religious practices or cultural traditions, they should wear their hair as they like, be it short or long, curly or straight, up or down. Most of the time I prefer to keep my long hair up, simply as it keeps it out of my face and off my neck. While I like long hair, it's simply a pain to maintain while remaining comfortable. I'm looking forward to when I can cut my hair again. No, I'm not keeping it long for a man's preference, but rather, I'm growing it out so I can donate it to Locks of Love or some other charity like that. It's a dream of mine I'm working on fulfilling. I want to do this at least once in my lifetime. When my hair has reached the minimum length to donate (or longer if I can stand it that long), I fully intend to cut my hair in some sort of wild fashion, and dye it to match. I'm pretty sure my boyfriend prefers long hair, but he realizes it's only hair and will grow again. I just need to feel liberated again with my own creativity when it comes to my appearance. So, in short, no permission is needed with what I choose to do with my hair, as I will do as I please anyway. To concern oneself with hair is a superficial motive.

I always wear my hair down unless I don't have time to blow dry it straight, then I wear it up. The only time I have ever been told how to wear my hair was at my brother's wedding, when I was a bridesmaid.

Mr. Sandstorm,
My husband likes me to wear my hair down but if I want to wear my hair up that is fine with him too. I prefer to wear my hair down because I look better with it down. One thing my husband don't like is if I get my hair cut to short. I don't like my hair short either.
