every football team in the nfl has cheerleaders, but it seems that the cowboys cheerleaders are the only ones who get recognized; they're glorified the most and ive just been wondering why.

While they were not the first NFL team to have cheerleaders, they were the first to be "noticed" by national TV audiences in the 70's. They had sexy uniforms which matched the Cowboy's colors and logos, while many other teams still used college cheerleaders. TV cameras focused on the Dallas cheerleaders during games, which helped the exposure and started a large base of fan appeal. The gates soon opened for them as they were featured on the covers of magazines in the 70's, TV variety shows, and a made-for-TV-movie was made for them in 1979. Other NFL teams followed the Cowboy's idea, like the Bronco's Pony Express in the late 70's. The Cowboys cheerleaders became a point of reference since that time and many still point to them as # 1.

Not every football team in the NFL has cheerleaders...
Green Bay borrows their cheerleaders from a local college.
As for the Dallas cheerleaders, they're only special to the Cowboy fans.

I think they were the first team to have cheerleaders. So they got hyped from the jump. They are hotter than the average though. Too bad the team blows.

They were the first, and they were immortalized from the start in that cinematic classic, Debbie Does Dallas. Plus, they still have the best uniforms.

They come out to iraq/korea/Afghanistan and visit us troops...that alone gets my vote. Aside from the fact that they are beautiful young girls in small clothes that can REALLY stretch.
