Talk about it with your husband...seriously. Between the two of you, come up with a date which he needs to be out by, and hold him to it. This is probably affecting your marraige as much as your happiness, explain to your husband that it's been long enough.

Go thru the bills for the last three years, compare them to the previous three years. Print it up and show it to him.
Say something like - You have been here for a long time, and if you want to stay here, then you must agree to new ground rules.
1] you must pay *** per month
2] you must cook dinner on monday, wednesday, and friday
3] you must clean bathroom, your room, kitchen, living room,
on alternate weeks
4] you must mow the lawn/weed/rake/shovel snow on alternate weeks
5] you must clean up after your self- when I come home from work, I want the house to be picked up. If it isn't, I will
a] confiscate belongings
b] take my husb and kids and leave - get dinner, go shopping
[ if your kids still have homework, take them to the library - it's free] Do not bring back food for him
6] you must do your own laundry
If you/he can't agree to these terms, you have 30 days, starting NOW, to move out.
* feel free to make terms harsher if you like!
do NOT feel guilty - they are grown ups and have had plenty of coddling!
P.S. you are setting a bad example for all the kids by letting them get away with this!
P.P.S.tell them after 30 days all ther belongings will be gone, one way or another - if they say,' you can't get rid of my stuff' say' where is your purchase receipt ?- this stuff has been here for three years, all my friends will testify to that, who do you think the cops will believe?'
OH AND YOU CAN ALWAYS CHANGE DA LOCK AND TELL THEM THAT IF THEY DONT PAY THE BILLS AND CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELF ( at the least) THEN UR CHANING THE LOCKS AND WITHIN 1-2 WEEKS TIME THEY CULD FIND THEIR STUFF OUT SIDE

Tell him to pack his laptop and the rest of his belongings. The free ride is over. As a man I believe in helping a friend in need. But I also recognize when I'm being taken advantage of by someone who really isn't my friend at all. At 48 years of age. He should be able live on his own and support himself.

Doesn't your husband's mouth work? Your husband should tell him it's time to move on. All good things come to an end. Even kids leave the nest. Leave or pay the exterminator bill. My wife is choking to death on your second hand smoke.
Give your husband a date to have him out by or you leave. Then do it.

Tell him he has a week to get out and if not you will throw him out of course you need to talk to your husband if he does not agree to this then you can go to a friends house and let them live together for a while I think this will take care of your husbands friend staying there.

Talk to your husband. House guests are like fish, they start to stink after 3 days. This is a grown man and he needs to be able to survive on his own, and besides you are not even his family. Explain to your hubby that his friend is putting a strain on your marriage and give him a time frame as to by when you want this guy out. Give him say a month to find his own place and stick to your guns. In situations like that, you need to be firm.

Tell him to read this! Or tell your husband to put his foot down because his friend mooching off of you two is going to come between your relationship. You and your husband should decide on a date then either together or your husband alone needs to sit down with this 'friend' and tell him that by that date he needs to have another place to go. Good Luck.

Tell your husband him or you. Help him get his stuff outside the door. 48 should be doing well on his own.

You need to get your husband on your side and get him to help you since it's his friend. Then both of you need to confront him and ask him to leave, just tell him the current situation is not working and he has one month to get out...period.
