Probably Viva Mercado's, a Mexican restaurant west of the Strip. They have a huge selection and the prices are really good. I don't have a favorite dish, but the cheesy bean dip is amazing.

Carluccio's Tivoli Gardens, on Tropicana east of Las Vegas Blvd is another favorite. Its an Italian restaurant offering delicious food, huge portions and good prices. The pizza is my favorite dish.

Another is Casa Di Amore, an Italian restaurant, also on Tropicana near Tivoli Gardens. They're open 24 hours (a much better alternative to Denny's!)

There are so many great restaurants here in the valley.

The Capital Grille:

A very upscale small chain restaurant, there are only a handful of them. Mostly in major cities, they have top notch steaks and exceptional service. Be sure to order a Stoli Doli from the bar and their fine Creme Brulee for dessert. Reservations are a must, Business attire.

Mira Lago at Reflection Bay; Lake Las Vegas:

Fine dining, exquisite view and exceptional service. They have an array of food choices and and extensive wine list. I enjoy dining on the out door patio overlooking the water.

Primo's Steakhouse:

Fantastic restaurant located at the top of the Suncoast casino. Delicious food, Great service and a view of the city.
Be sure to make reservations and request a table with a view.

The Silver Spur:

This hidden gem is in the Whiskey Pete's casino in Primm Nevada, right outside the city. They have some of the best service that I have experienced anywhere in the world. Their steaks are delicious and always tender. Be sure not to miss the Banana's Foster for dessert, it isn't on the menu - So make sure to ask. Reservations are suggested, be sure to request Sammy as your server.

Carluccio's Tavoli Gardens:

This restaurant was designed by the famed Liberace. It is the finest, most delicious Italian cuisine you will find outside of Italy. The restaurant is elegant, yet casual. Reservations are a MUST, otherwise you will find yourself waiting a while.

Of the buffets in the area being so big, I'd say the seafood buffet at the Rio can't be beat. I've eaten at most buffets around the casinos and it's not the most expensive, but I've always found it far better than others. I am a big seafood fan, though, and if you're not, you would definitely still like it but not on the scale that I do.

Pho Kim Long is a Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant in Chinatown (on Spring Mountain) that always delivers delicious Pho and is open until like 2-3am! It's great for that late-night offering when you don't want to hit up the strip and you're out late.

Out of all the places to dine in Las Vegas, I think two really stand out:

1. Craftsteak @ The MGM - Although on the pricey side, they have the best steak in Las Vegas! The offer a wide selection of Kobe Beef and have amazing side dishes.

2. Fixx @ Bellagio - Again, a little on the expensive side, but well worth the price. Inovative and fun ideas combined with quality ingredients have proven this place worth a check-out!

there is so much more to las vegas then the strip! one of the best restaurants is Rosemary's on west sahara. its got original recipes and dishes that you won't find anywhere else, and for a reasonable and affordable price. some of the best food i've ever had! also, for amazing mexican food and cocktails at very decent prices try Agave on west charleston. both these places are off the beaten tourist path, it'll give you a true sense of what las vegas has to offer in fabulous cuisine.

I would have to say it is definitely the Carnival World Buffet at the Rio. This buffet is great for everyone. It has food from all over the world that is delicious. Whether you feel like American, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Italian, etc. it's all there. The large variety makes it wonderful for people of all ages, especially children who may be picky eaters. Everyone will find something to eat. This buffet is absolutely delicious!

I moved from Vegas 16 years ago, so my reference is far from current. It used to be The Cellar at the Four Queens.
