if your depressed it could be an escape from reality. I know i sleep when depressed or sad.

or maybe it could be your food intake or anemia or something medical.

Either way wish you the best!

Man some people on here are hostile. If you really are depressed, I would say it is an escape from reality. However, if you are sleeping a lot because you are just plain tired all the time, that is actually a disorder called Narcolepsy. If that is the case, you may want to see a doctor. You may want to see a doctor if you are depressed also, they can help you.

Yep. I consider sleeping a momentary ticket to escape reality. I just love it, so I can stop worrying for the moments and just sleep it through.

But I mean, realistically, we all have to go through suffering at some point, so sleeping's just a detour we can take. Or sometimes we might not even wake up! But that's a different story =]

No. It just makes you numb. It won't make you feel better. I know sometimes it seems better to stay in bed rather than go out there, awake, and face the world.

It seems to be an escape, but really you're just delaying and thus making the reality (supposedly the problem) bigger and bigger.

At one point you have to stand up, face it. And everything will be finished, even if you have to fight it for a long time. It's better rather than delaying it and sleep a lot, I reckon...

Yes, it can be considered that, but not always. There is more to the makeup of the Psyche than just Black and White. Someone may sleep a lot because of internal problems which wear them out and make them sleep a lot to regenerate energy levels. Other people may have sleeping disorders or sleeping problems which keep them sleepy a lot.

The best way to be sure is to consult a professional.

They say when you sleep ALOT..it is from depression...and you said it your self escape from reality...You need to find the root of the problem what is making you feel this way and try to change it because things will only get worse..
