Oregon law allows only terminally ill, mentally competent adults who can self-administer the medication to ask a physician to prescribe life-ending drugs, and they must make that request once in writing and twice orally.

What are your feelings on this?

No one deserves to die a slobbery-mouthed, pants-shitting death, if there is a possibility of passing in another, less-humiliating manner.

If a person wants to die, and they're in terrible pain, let them! It's their choice to make.

Why should we force them to continue living in pain until their body ultimately kills them after a prolonged period of constant suffering?

It's selfish of physician's, law-makers, family members, and Death With Dignity- opponents, to want the terminally ill person to stick around living with profound, endless pain when there is another, more humane option.

I think it is something that should be allowed. Having gone thru the ordeal in my life of watching my loved ones suffer with no hope has only made me believe it is the only right thing to do. If the person makes the decision while in their right mind and there is absolutely no hope.

It's what some cons call a "slippery slope". Voluntary euthanasia will soften up public opinion for manditory euthanasia. If we say "they can decide for themselves" today, some day soon, we'll say "let's decide for them". It's just inevitable the way these things work.
