I agree. Alot of Charletons got ahold of religion and made it serve those in power. I think religion has become something for the weak and feeble minded.
I think culture_warrior13 proves your point completely.
James B.... not one of those wars were based on secularism or atheism. Not even Pol Pot who was a Buddhist. Of coarse if you actually read "Mein Kampf" you'd know that Hitler was a Catholic and believed that religion was an important thing. Fascism was based on Catholicism and supported by the Catholic church. And, that was true from it's beginnings with the Civil War and Franco's fascists in Spain and all the way through Europe during the time.

I don't see that attire. I see a wonderful, talented, funny man. I love ya just the way you are, ((((((((((Jack)))))))))). No religion, no disease can change that. And, to be honest, I don't give a rat's asss what any religion has to say about HIV - or homosexuality. So, I can't really say how it's been influenced by it. Overall, religion continues to be popular in a day and age when humanity should be past such archaic thinking because people love to have an excuse to judge others - at least, this applies to the Abrahamic religions. And, I say "screw 'em".

I think you know he isn't serious with it actually being funny- shocking would have been a better word
If you doubt what he says just look at the battles and genocide from the beginning! Crusades, Germany in WWII, Darfur and Africa as a whole - millions and millions of people
Whats even more interesting is that there is a different religion for every race.
So even if you can get past the racial issues, you still have religion and vice versa
We were doomed from the start

I'm not sure that's accurate, but close enough for my tastes. Saying religion is like saying government, it keeps it faceless like it belongs to no-one, yet many people are certainly involved. This tells me it has to be the people in power making the decisions that twist religion into an instrument of hatred, not your religion, everyone who isn't a believer in your religion becomes the enemy for not believing what you do, so to speak. Less religion and more spirituality would be good, show me your godliness, don't tell me about it.

Good point. I would like to see someone tell me precisely what religion has ever brought humanity other than discrimination and violence. Always reminds me of being in Salt Lake City, many years ago, where I saw a bumper sticker on a car that summed it all up:
"God favors no one. Religions do that."
Point taken.

You need to provide some real data to make statements like that. Since millions die every year from disease and drugs, I tend to doubt the veracity of your statement.

from the beginning of the time of man, religion has been a form of control over the people-through fear.

Yes, battles over religion have went on since day 1. You are supoosed to go to war against others who do not change their leadership that causes serious oppression to others.

Religion did not do that. Humans that bastardized the religion and twisted it around and filtered the true meaning did the killing.

"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion? To make half the world fools and half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the world "
