My hunch is no. I'm betting the feel goody preference pimps love preferences as long as they don't have to play.

Chance, I'm puzzled. Would a class who benefits from a preference not be a preferred class? But I digress. Assuming you think preferences are nifty, would you gladly give up your job?

Another Perspective - I think you should have your panties in a bunch. Dumb old whitey me thinks AA is cruel and condescending. First, the implicit message is that blacks are not good enough, they can't succeed without the helping hand of a benevolent big government. Second, and I find this downright cruel, is lowering the bar for blacks. What could possibly be more cruel than having someone go to college, get pandered to, and then walk out unprepared for the real world with skills that don't measure up. In other words, I have a ton more faith in blacks than the left wing do gooders could ever dream of having.

Of course they wouldn't. That's another kind of racism. They discriminate against less fortunate people of their own race, while often insulting them in numerous ways...ie blaming poor powerless whites for poverty, racism, the failures of forced rapid multiculturalism etc. and denying them jobs and services as though they deserve it somehow. At the same time they show preference to less fortunate people of other races, whether they deserve it or not. They also join in racism against their own kind perpetrated by other races and cover it up by claiming only certain members of their own group could do that, and the other group could never be guilty. It's absurd.

To answer your question form a black perspective. In my corporation I have seen the numbers of blacks fall rapidly and be replaced with people of other colors. Hispanics and Indians lead the list of the other minorities. I am not mad, it is a trend just like hiring blacks was a trend.

By the way, why do whites get their panties into a bunch over affirmative action? If race isn't taken into consideration on hiring (which it isn't in 85% of cases), what does it matter? Whites are the ones in the positions to hire people. Whites run the school board in 95% of school boards across the country. Whites are 85% of the government. Whites are much more likely to go to college. A person with an ethnic name is far less likely to get hired for a job based on only an application with the same credentials.

Whites have lineages, college funds, trust funds, inheritances, and own far more businesses than blacks. Blacks are more likely to go to jail than to go to college. So why do you guys feel threatened by what, 2% of the country's population of black professionals. We only make up 12% of the entire US population, most don't go to college, and some have jobs and open their own businesses. So that leaves very few blacks that CAN take a white person's job.

A "preferred" class. Oh that's rich. To paraphrase Chris Rock, how many of you poor downtrodden white guys would switch places with a black person? After all, by your logic you can walk right in and get any job you want.

What's to be puzzled about? There are numerous institutional and historical advantages to being a white anglo saxon protestant male in the US. The label "preferred class" can be attached to this group just as well as to another, so your label is both inaccurate and imprecise.

To more directly answer your question:
Would I let a "preferred class" take my job? This is a false choice. Assuming they are satisfied with their job, no one wants to give up their job to anyone else, regardless of whether the replacement is a "prefered" class or not. Besides, what you are reaslly talking about is quotas; quotas are illegal in the United States, except on rare occasions when judges order them to correct blatant discrimation. Since I would not work at a company that conducts blatent discrimination, and would quit, I would hope that they are forced to hire a minority in my place, yes.

Whites have a problem with affirmative action because it is never in my favor. What do I have in my favor? The white male is now the most discriminated person there is. It would be easier to divorce my wife and get a loan for a business in her name and me have to part of it legally to start the business than me apply for any thing. Have you ever heard of a white collage fund or even one for males (other than black)? What do I have going for me?
