Most men have an enlarged prostate by age 80, and prostate cancer (usually the slow-growing kind) is also common in his age group. He needs to seek a doctor's advice BEFORE this becomes an emergency, which can be very painful! My father-in-law waited too long and had to have a catheter for a long time to enable him to pass urine while the medicine to ease his symptoms took effect. Most unpleasant. Get him to his doctor ASAP!

i would seek medical attention asap. he might have an enlarged prostate preventing him to pass urine. there are medications that can help but i would see a doc asap.
