I thought it was the other way around.

I'm not sure I've spent a lot of time living in both cities and I must say that peopel from both cities feel the same way about one another. Although I think people that live in San Francisco feel more entiled to the fruits of the world. I've also noticed the yuppies in the bay are also a lot more lippy. I hate lippy people in LA you have to watch who your lippy to or you might get teeth knocked out your face. That's just how I feel though. I don't believe that SF residents are less bling than those in LA. Walk around AT&T Park go to the Starbucks on King street I was sitting there one morning and was completely disgusted all around me people a sipping coffee ten different people had there laptops going and costantly view Yuppies pulling up double parking in their non-hybrid cars to run in and grab a coffee in their designer fashion. I think maybe the non-yuppies aka working class people in San Francisco are some of the nicest people I've ever meet but I don't think they know what it's really like to struggle. In LA you have to have a car yes there is a lot of money for the transportation system but it's still in the works and most people drive 2 to 3 hours everyday to work not because they want to but because they have to, thank the Ford Family.

I love California in general and these cities in particular, but lets be honest for a moment: Because it takes one to know one.

San Francisco and Los Angeles are both the center of the universe, you know. Or so they keep on reminding everyone else.

They're both great cities, with abundant museums, natural beauty, nightclubs, bars, landmarks, and cultural innovation. They are also ridiculously wealthy. The municipal budgets of San Francisco (5.7 billion) and Los Angeles (6.3 billion) is larger than that of most states!

But of course, some people in both cities let it go to their heads. That's when they start talking about anywhere outside their suburban "empire" (Greater LA and the Bay Area) as if it were full of naked barbarians hitting each other over the head with clubs.

B/c people in SF hate LA, it's a requirement to live in that city. Both places have snobby people. Any place that has a large concentration of wealth will have snobs no matter where you are. A pretentious limousine liberal snob and a superficial and shallow Hollywood snob, there really is no fundamental difference between the two.

Sf snobs rather drive a Prius around than a Bentley. The difference is SF snobs try to be "socially conscious", while LA snobs tend to be more blatant about their wealth. No difference, except that Angelinos wear their snobbiness a bit more on their sleaves.

let's get something straight here...residents of both towns are snobby, they just have different ways of showing. The LA crowd is all about the bling, who drives what car, wears whatever designer fashion, see and seen. Very in your face, I am rich and you aren't.

SF residents, while probably at same income level drive around in hybrid vehicles, take public transportaton, picket against plastic vs. paper bags at the grocery store, and would rather wear hemp clothing than the latest in designer fashion.

It is all about appearance. Flashy vs. not. Take your pick. At the end of the day they are both upper class, wealthy people.

I think LA is great, too, except for having to breathe there.

I've never thought that, and I don't know of any SF people who do.
