I think that Emma is a lovely name, but it doesn't suit everyone. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to tell whether your new baby will be a girly-girl or a tomboy, so some people end up with the name Emma and it just doesn't work for them!

Despite it being the #1 Girl name of 2006, I love the name. We think we are having a boy, but if he comes out a girl, her name will be Emma. I have a co-worker that thinks it sounds like a 1800's farm girl. I really don't care what people think. Obviously people are not going to name a baby with a name the don't like or hate.

When I was 18 I got married. He and I used to talk all the time about having kids....( we didn't though....and divorced a year later). I loved the name Emma then. It was funny though because he liked the name Emily Anne and I liked the name Emma LeAnne.....either way you do it when you say it together it is the same thing....lol. But anyhow I am due with a little girl in July and we won't be naming her the name that my first husband and I liked....even though it is still one of my favorites!

I like the name but like you sometimes I don't. It is kind of plain and it sounds like a little girls name not an adults, so when the baby grew up she would be stuck with a childish name her whole life. But it is a really pretty name, and maybe it could be used as a middle name or smashed with another name to make a great first name that would sound a little more mature....like Emma-Grace or Emma-Mae or something like that!

I love that name and I feel the same way about it I like it then sometimes I don't. I decided to name my little girl Emily Paige Faith = ) And call her Emma, however, after I got pregnant I hated that name even though I had it picked out for years since I was a little girl...........odd I know

Now I'm naming her Abrianna Paige

But I still love the name Emma just don't want to name my baby girl that anymore................no idea why = )

~Sarah

I like the name but it's WAY too popular in 2002 it was #4 jumping from the number 13 spot. In 2003-2006 it was Number #2 on the most popular baby name list. It's been in the top 100 since 1993 jumping from 104 to 81.

Well, Emma Peel was great on the Avengers, but that's because Diana Rigg was one classy lady in leather.
In general, I think Emma is a little old fashioned, but it is not offensive or anything.
