The order in which they take place is:
Temple of Doom - set in 1935
Raiders of the Lost Ark - 1936
Last Crusade - 1938
Indiana Jones 4 (forthcoming) - 1957
And the order in which they were made:
Raiders of the Lost Ark - 1981
Temple of Doom - 1984
Last Crusade - 1989
Indiana Jones 4 - release scheduled for May 22, 2008
EDIT - added the order in which the films were made because I wasn't **entirely ** sure what you were asking, but I'm pretty sure that what you want to know is when they take place, correct? In that case, the order in which they were made is extra info, for no extra charge. :-)
Thumbs-down trolls: Thumb in the eye to you! Read the asker's question and see what he's asking. Since it is a **little** unclear, any information about the order in which the movies take place OR in which they were made is a good try at helping the asker out and doesn't deserve a thumbs-down.

The correct order of the movies not by release dates but by story lines would be; Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom(1935), Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark(1936), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade(1938).

they were released Raiders first, Temple second, Last Crusade last, but, the years they were set in goes Temple of Doom(1935), Raiders(1936), Last Crusade(1939ish). There is a Fourth one in the works set to take place in the 1950's so Indiana Jones is about the same age as Harrison Ford, with the rumor being everybody who was in the first 3, that didnt get killed off, that is, will make a cameo. I hope that is true, how awesome would that be to see all of that talent in one place, and that would be just Sean Connery's trailer!!!

Chronologically?
1. Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom
2. Raiders of the Lost Ark
3. Last Crusade (remember when Indy remarks on the Ark of the Covenant etching in the tomb under the library?)

RE:
What order do the Indiana Jones movies go in ?
"Raiders of the Lost Ark" was the first Indiana Jones movie . "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" was the second one, but it took place before "Raiders of the Lost Ark" . I don't know here "Indian Jones and the Last Crusade" fits in . What years...

yep. Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade, Crystal Skull. If I remember right, though, the story in Temple of Doom is chronologically one year before Raiders. You don't need to watch them in order to understand what's going on. They all stand alone pretty well, in my opinion. I started with Last Crusade. That is still my favorite IJ movie and ranks high on my list of all time favorites.

Temple of Doom starts first, the the lost ark, finally last crusade.
I'm not sure of the years it goes it, but I do know that there is a few things in last crusade that deals with how he was as a kid. I hope I helped you out
