I was worried that my twins would be underweight since twins are usually born very small. But this week my doctor told me that both of my babies weigh in at about a pound an a half each. The father is a big man so I think thats also another reason why they're big. Another question, if my babies are big, does that mean they might be born sooner?

I carried my girls to 37 weeks and they were 5lbs 8oz and 5lbs 14oz. I gained over 38 inches around my middle :-)
I delievered them naturally.
At this point you will probably see the babies each start gaining between a 1/4lb and 1/2lb each week.
I know a few women who've had babies each weigh more than 7lbs.
The size of the babies is a minor factor in when they are born - it really depends on how much room they have and when they're ready. Listen to your body - rest when you need to, nourish yourself when you need to. Things will be just fine - I had the same concerns you are having and made it though just fine.
Welcome to the club and best wishes to you and your new family (to be)!

Depending on whether or not they are carried to term (which a lot actually are) anything about 5.5 lbs. is considered pretty good with most weighing in at more than this. There can be, of course, some disparity in size but your doctor will probably address this if it is a concern. Sounds like they're doing good so far. As for size affecting labor - yes it could be a factor but it all depends on your body. Even if they are a little on the larger side, they could still be carried the full 40 weeks but a lot are usually born a little before that time. Your doctor will help you determine when things might be getting to be a little too much for your body and start talking about induction or c-section. A word of advice if I may - unless it is medically necessary or strongly recommended I would advise trying for a vaginal birth because the recovery time is much better and is easier on you. If there is one breech (depending on positioning of course) you can still have a vaginal birth. If the first one is coming out head first you can proceed with the second even if it is breech. However, if it is the first that is breech they will be concerned about the chins catching making delivery next to impossible. Trust your doctor, eat healthy and don't worry - things will be fine in the end. Best of luck with your little bundles of joy!

Properly managed twins should both weigh a healthy birth weight which is to say about 6-9 lbs.

Size does not equate to physical development and even babies born at 36 weeks can have serious issues such as a poorly developed choke reflex and other breathing problems.

If you eat enough, and well (lots of protein), minimize ultrasounds, and let nature take it's course your twins should make it to term and be a good weight.

Moms in my homebirthing group have given birth to twins weighing between 7-8 lbs, there was even one postdates set that was around 10lbs each.

if your babies get too big then you might end up with a c-section. THe ideal weight for twins is usually 2 lbs for one and 3 or 4 lbs for the other. Sometimes 3 lbs and 4 to 5 lbs for the other baby.

It relies upon on the man. Drs oftentimes favor you to achieve about 25 - 35 lbs by utilising the properly of your being pregnant. in case you've been underweight earlier, you ought to probably benefit somewhat more beneficial, yet even overweight earlier theory ought to benefit about 15 lbs entire. by utilising this time, it wouls be healthful that you may have gained about 12 - 18 lbs, yet it truly is basically an estimate. Many lady benefit early or previous due, as long as you keep to twenty-5 - 35 lbs, that's healthful. Oh and this individual above me is finished of it! basically study "what to anticipate once you're observing for" and it is going to damage down the burden benefit. i imagine this is something like: 8 - 12 lbs of fat shops 7 - 8 lbs of toddler 6 - 9 lbs of water weight 5 - 6 lbs of blood volume 25 - 35 lbs entire So that's a lot more beneficial than 8 lbs of toddler for a healthful weight benefit!
