If we are talking about, feelings, I which not to affect, Affect!!!, your felling by assuming, that what, you will seam to refer too, with the word Affect!, that in fact, became to be instead effect, or been affect, in fact by another cause?, In which case we will be talking about Cause and Effect, something I'm also very good to talk about and interpreted for you. So, if my assumptions, are right, the effect, that my words can produce on you at this time, can be the product of a Cause, that, perhaps, and at the time unknown, but yet, recognizable.
So, I assumed, Its about feelings, and the effect, felling, or felling's, has, or have in Human beings. If a feeling affect a human, is because the Human, hasn't been able to control certain elements, we should become aware they need our control, because if not they will affect our self, even when we are surrounded a/o around other peoples. Feeling's, is in one of the five senses of a human being, which belong and begins with-in the body, or within the flesh, is part of our material existence, (in this physical Life experience of Humanity. Phisical life that it has nothing to do with me answering your question), But , its part of Cause and effect, the one we up to persue in this material world.
So, there is, where it lies the most important reason for Humans to take control of such whatever fellings we have at the time, and begin to know and explore the powers and potentials of our own senses, in where the fellings belong.

The effect, is not good, it can be, pernicious, negatives, and a bad experience, because they can turn out to be, uncontrolable emotions. and although emotions, are a good thing, while you are with peoples you Love and trust, they aren't good, in any other way. I have one emotion, love, and that emotion is cover by sadness, and not uncontrolable sadness, but sadness never the less, because I can't fix what I like the most and that is Humanity.
To control the elements and don't hurt your fellings, you has to become aware in your own words, that if you put your hand in the fire, it will burn, and if you don't take out way from the fire, it will be a mess. this is just a metaphoric a/o alegoric sample, to let you knoe that there are more than just four elements. which we can feel. so what, was, effect, or affect.

Feelings are Emotions.
Emotions tend to over-ride a persons ability to think.
If you act on emotions rather than thinking your way through a problem, you are far more likely to make an error in judgment.
Then again, emotions work well if you'd rather not go to the trouble of acquiring the information required to make a logical decision.
The above is why it has always been stated "wisdom comes with age". As you get older, hormones affect you less and it is easier to think! (Experience has a LOT to do with wisdom also.)
Feelings and emotions are the result of you body's response to chemical secretions. - Doesn't have much to do with thought does it?

Feelings give relationships more meaning. But don't justify unrestrained reactions for something up-building. Ironic as it may seem, emotions needs controlling. The sincere effort of imparting affection despite the conflict makes us HuMaN =)
