The cold water won't turn on in my shower. How do you fix it?

The cold water runs to the shower and the sink, but only works in the sink. I don't know what's up.

I would say there is a bad washer in the cold water stem. You will need to turn off the house water supply if you don't have valves at the shower. Pop off the cover on the end of the handle, remove the screw and handle (handle may be difficult to remove if calcium deposits are present) and then remove the nut that holds the stem in. Slide the handle back on and unscrew the stem. Look at the end and see what the washer looks like. Replace it and reassemble.
