Just the opposite. Money is one of the concepts that define sentience in a species.

It shows that the society (in this case, humans) have adopted concepts of cooperation and convenience. Cooperation because money is valueless if not accepted on "faith" by the community. Convenience because other methods of ownership transfer (barter, Servitude) are a burden to the society instead of an advantage.

In fact, if another animal species on Earth ever adopted "money", we'd have to seriously consider that species as worthy of "human rights".

Maybe it is because the green paper looks like grass:

Many will recall that on July 8, 1947, witnesses claimed that an unidentified object with five aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico.

This is a well-known incident that many say has long been covered up by the U.S. Air Force and the US government.

However, what you may NOT know that in the month of March 1948, exactly nine months after that historic day, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Bill O'Reilly,
Condoleeza Rice, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Dan Quayle were all born.

See what happens when aliens breed with sheep?
So, maybe the paper looked like grass.

In my opinion any culture, from any world use some sort of material for exchange of goods. Maybe green paper might seem strange, but they would probably grasp the concept.

How do you think dogs feel when they see humans do that and then suddenly they're taken away from their home to a whole new place?

It's funny when you think it that way. It's rather strange that we can get easily controlled over green pieces of paper, cotten, and linen with pictures of dead presidents on them.

no. it is just a form of trade or barter. maybe from a true alien's perspective, the need to trade would probably be elimated as they would have work together as one, not seeking physical possesions, only harmony. to them the concept of trade would be obsolete and show to them how primitive we are.

if they're intelligent enough to get here, they're intelligent enough to understand currency, no matter what shape it is in. Even if they don't have physical counters, someone will know it.
