I have a brand new ECS motherboard. PT890T-A (V1.0) (see the link below) and it says on the site "designed for XP" however I want to put Vista on it in the future. Will Vista work with any motheboard? I have a 3.06 GHz processer, 2 GB of RAM, 256 MB video card, 500 GB hard drive, and pretty much everything I need to run it but will it work on any motherboard? Check the site for more info. I want to put Vista on it when SP1 comes around. Thanks for any help.

The question is your system's capacity, processor speed, and RAM. Microsoft identifies the recommended capacity, speed, etc and the minimum. If your system does not have the recommended (not the minimum) you will likely not like the slowness.

Check out the recommendations from Microsoft and your system and you will know.

If the processor meets the speed, and RAM does not, you may be able to upgrade RAM.

you could call MS and have them supply you a sparkling extensive type, i've got had to try this for a house-equipped pc earlier. That stated, particular, a Linux-based OS does not sync up with a given hardware configuration and desire re-activation if particular areas are swapped out. i've got put in various distros (variations of Linux) actually dozens of circumstances without hiccups.

YES....operating system will not conflict with it....if it works for XP and you have the stats you say you have...it will work fine...just worry about the minimum stats to run Vista...
