I have to relate the message to humanity

There are a couple of things you can get out of it.

One, that humanity is more than capable of sacrificing the innocence of a child to save itself--ie, that in the end, as a race, humans are just as soulless and have the same survival instinct as insects (what the Buggers represented).

Also, it's a very telling essay on the nature vs. nature debate---look at the three Wiggin children, what they believed, and how those around them made them act. Compare their feelings and their actions.

Great book.

It's been ages since I read the book (I read it for a
Science Fiction literature course in college, twenty
years ago), but it appears to examine how military
indoctrination begins in childhood, forcing young
people to mature quickly, and to view a state of war
as normal and acceptable. This does not, however,
prevent the participants in war from experiencing
personal guilt when confronted by consequences of
their wartime actions; in fact, the protagonist in this
book feels personally compelled to make amends
for his acts (although, as I haven't read any Ender
books beyond this one, I'm unsure how effective his
efforts are, long-term).

I think the main message is, that the plight of one is nothing to the survival of many. Ender was broken and hurt, and lost his childhood, so that he could save the world.

i loved that book!!

well,.. i think its that even if you dont want to do something(like kill), sometimes you have to do whats good for everyone. in the end, Ender kills the buggers and most of them live happily ever after {not really if you have read the sequels!! i like ender's shadow .. reccomend it!!}

hope that helps!! ^^
