of course the prez is blamed for everything...gas prices? what the F does the prez have to do with a free market economy and the growing economies and fuel demands of china and india that drive up market prices? uhhhh he has nothing to do with it!!! but libs love to blame ole presidente bush. he is a putz at times and doesn't speak well but less than half of what he's blamed for he has control over.

The legislature passes the pork barrel spending with their pet projects for their local districts. as long as the prez gets his agenda on the ticket it passes with no veto. he can't veto every bill sent by the leg. The leg is far more corrupt, full of billlionaires and millionaires that continue to pass legislation that supports their famlies and friends..refernce Chiane Cheinstein and her hubby....or Murtha etc....and yes republicants do it too....

The impact of laws is based on those branches. The impact of blame is based on the media presentation. Perfect example, it was proven that the Louisiana governor (Kathlene Blanco) waited till the 2nd day after Katrina to declare and emergency making it illegal for FEMA to come in until the 3rd day. Yet most people blame George Bush for this incident because FEMA wasn't there on the first day. If FEMA was called up on the first day, then people would be arguing that he violated the constitution which prohibits Federal Military personnel from "invading" a state unless it is declared an emergency. Unfortantily, our society is swaying more towards soundbites where someone like Kanye West (Who self proclaims dropping out of school) can make a bold claim about a man he never met and has more impact on the very people that would be too lazy to actually pick up and read a copy of the federal report that found the state government messed up much worst than the city and feds.

Most Americans seem to forget how many ranks exist in this Country.

Some actually think the President can tell Governors and Mayors what they can and can't do which is untrue.

Not to mention New Orleans is a home rule city, and home rule cities have more power over their cities than the States themselves.

So Mayor Ray Nagin deserved blame regarding Hurricane Katrina, because Mayor Nagin expected President Bush to have the responsibilities that belonged to Nagin himself.

Had I been the Mayor of N.O. I would have worked my hardest to evacuate N.O. before even thinking of calling the President or the Governor.

Also the National Guard are the Armies of the States, the only time the President can have authority over the National Guard is if #1 the unit is overseas, or #2 the Governor who has control, grants the President permission to have control.

The Governor of Louisiana by the way did not grant permission for President Bush to take command of the Louisiana National Guard.

Furthermore the Governor of Louisiana herself wrecked things in the crisis, whereas the Governors of Alabama and Mississippi actually took charge without even asking the President for help (it is no wonder those states were better off than Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina).

Also when a Hurricane hit Florida, Governor Jeb Bush did not call his Brother to ask for help, Governor Bush took matters into his own hands and things worked out great.

The Judiciary has the most power in the US although this is specifically what the Constitutional Framers wanted to prevent. This has occured because the Socialist element in the US experienced too many loses at the ballot box and opted for the easier option of having the courts enforce thier policies from the bench. They usurped the authority of the democratic process and we are all paying the price. The Constitution has been "amended" more often by the courts than by the procedure delineated in Article V.

I would actually say corporate lobbyist have the most influence. As I see it, the Pres is a figurehead. It's not just Bush speaking his mind and being the "decider." It's Cheney, Karl Rove, Bush's other advisors, industries who contribute to the Republican Party and then put pressure on the Bush Administration. There are so many invisable forces shaping policy. So, yes, Bush is blamed too much. The background folks aren't blamed enough.

Yes we blame the president for far too much. The real problem is the legislative branch. They make or break the decisions that affect us all in our name.

PS: Its sickening how many people are clueless as to how our government works. Their heads filled with left wing spin and lies.

All three branches of government are dominated by lawyers so; Do we HAVE three branches of government?
I say lawyers should NOT be allowed to run for political office. The Judicial branch must be lawyers so let them dominate that third of the the three branches and keep them out of the rest of the government positions of power.

The executive typically has more impact keeping in mind that there are checks and balances among the three branches. If one branch becomes too powerful or abuses power, the Constitution contains ways to check the abuses.

the obvious answer is the executive branch because members within this domain execute all political affairs as a representation of what the people would say. surely, the legislative branch can override a presidents executions but he has the invested authoritarian power to veto!

the ignorant people of our country need to stop accusing bush for the multiple inevitable mishaps in our democratic republic, because with democracy comes risk, and what better way to express a country of risk than with capitalism and free enterprise?

this countries future is in the hands of its people, NOT the president! get over it whiners.

The government is no longer following the simple guidelines put forward via the constitution so this question is moot. Regardless of what the executive, legislative, or judical branch does. Big Business is the real king in the US.
