Plenty of mothers do it, so it may be "normal", but I don't think it's healthy.

As long as the child gets her or his own time to be an individual it is fine. Being a father and seeing all the cool things my son is doing. I wish I could be right in it with him. Some times I do but most of the time I let him make decisions by him self.

No, the daughter needs to be herself and not have to worry about her mother trying to be her best friend. But the mother should know what is going on with her child at all times.

"normal" is a very subjective word.
does it happen? yes.
is it healthy? no.
mothers should be a mom to their children, and not strive to be the best friend.

happens all the time. the mom will invite the daughters friends over, and want to hang out with just them! she'll start dressing younger, wants to go places with her, etc.

No, it's not at all normal. It's a disturbing personality disorder, actually.

I'm not sure that normal is the right word. It's not uncommon, and it's a bit "creepy" actually.

It is not normal. You are supposed to encourage your kids to be individuals, not what you wanted to be!
