Not a hoax. The USSR and USA were in the middle of a space race so the russians would have been watching everything closely. If the US had not landed on the moon the russians would have been crowing like you wouldn't believe.
You can't tell me that in the middle of the cold war Russia and America agreed to fake it.
Caitlin, you may notice when viewing footage of space walks, the international space station, shuttle missions, that there are no stars in those either. Thats because you need an atmosphere to produce the refraction needed to see them. Likewise with your flame theory, flames need an atmosphere. Thats what gives them their shape and colour. The flapping flag. Well objects need resistance to stop moving, as the flag is in a vacume it would have taken quite a while for it to settle after being planted. It's called inertia. As for the rocks, why is it hard to beleive that rocks found on our moon would be made of similar elements to those that make our planet? Air conditioning units actually require an enclosed space otherwise you loose it's effect, so they would have worked.
The 17 tons of lander sat on top of legs called spreaders. (theres a whole physics lesson there, goes along the line of a woman in high heeled shoes and an elephant walk across a wooden floor, who does most damage).
It is conceivable that the phot's were faked but I'd think that was more to do with the US government not wanting people to actually see what they saw. (everyone was a bit paranoid during that era)

Man did set foot on the moon, but some people think it was a hoax. They think this because of many various points, such as 'Why did the flag flutter on the moon when there is no wind?'. The flag seemed to flutter because the flagpole was made of a very springy metal which, when stuck in the ground, gave the illusion of fluttering. Unfortunately I cannot remember any other points but there is evidence that it happened (e.g. there is a moonrock that is on public display at (I think) the Saturn V center, Kennedy Space Center).

It all started with the Satellite Sputnik. Then the USSR sent a man up into space. The we did. It just spiraled out of control where either us or the USSR would have to do something so amazing that the other could not out do it. This is why we landed on the moon. As proof that we did is that the USSR would have been the first to say something if there was an real evidence that we faked it. Plus faking it once would be really risky right? Well that would mean faking it 6 times would be ridiculously stupid. If we faked it 6 times someone would of noticed.

Our lives have been so extensively greater simply by distance software, so who cares if the moon landing replaced right into a hoax? The hoax photograph theories don't hold water. It's been proved on earth that shadows caused by a single light source do not always appear to be parallel. There are no stars visible because the pictures were taken in bright sunlight. You wouldn't see stars on earth if the sun was shining, or even at night if there are lots of street lights shining in your eyes.
There was no flame from the ascent stage of the Lunar Module because you need oxygen to see a flame burning and there ain't no oxygen on the moon. etc etc etc.

The people who claim it was a hoax make some riciculous claims, but also some valid points.
How did they manage to take such superb photographs with such basic cameras which were strapped to their chests so they couldn't even see what they were photographing?
I wouldn't be surprised if some of the photos were either faked or seriously touched up.

However it is alleged that instruments were left on the surface so we can bounce radio waves off to measure the distance to the moon precisely. This surely proves they went there - except I've seen no actual evidence that there is such equipment on the surface.

On balance I think it is more likely that they went to the moon than that a hoax could have been carried off without it being definitely found out over the last 30+ years.

Maybe some of you don't remember when the Russians were our bitter, cold war enemy, but the moon landing was during this time and was a serious blow to their public esteem.

It wouldn't take much of a scientist to prove the radio and tv signals were from the direction of the moon and the time delays were correct. The Russkies would have screamed bloody murder if we'd faked it.

The motion of the dust kicked up on the moon would be hard to simulate except in a vacuum. It's motion was ballistic - dust doesn't do that in a gaseous environment.

There is also the fact we left a mirror, during one of the mission, which is now used to bounce laser light off. All those scientists bouncing laser light off the mirror would have noticed not getting the reflection back. That mirror/laser experiment is used to give precise information about the moons distance from the earth.

And if that weren't enough, you'd have had to have literally thousands of people in on the hoax. You can't keep just a few people quiet about politics in the White House, when they have clearances that could land them in jail, why would ANYONE in their right mind think that you could possibly keep thousands of people quiet about this.

Trusting the government about this isn't necessary. Just use some damn common sense!

Someone mentioned that the cameras were "basic". No, they were not - they were top of the range Hasselblad cameras. Why would you send anything less on a trip like that?

It always amazes me whenever this comes up (about once a week) that people who clearly have no scientific or engineering knowledge think they can "prove" it is a hoax.

Do you really think that it didn't happen?? 1969 i was watching! Yes they really went to the Moon. Yes they landed and walked on the moon. Yes they had to fake a few photos because they couldn't get an astronaut to take snaps with his gloves on,and no amount of cajoling would get Neil to remove his gloves whilst out of the lander. (in a space race with political fall out if and when anything went wrong the opposing side would make great gain politically for their dogma,if America did not go and USSR found out what would happen do you think,too risky,better to risk men and machines). If you need to see a film portrayal of what astronauts had to endure you could do worse than watch a film called the right stuff. If you want to continue with your look into conspiracies regarding NASA then find the films of The moon mars connection. (this says that there are Glass structures higher than the twin towers were on the lunar surface and probes have gone off track at altitude above the moon and also there are "photos" purporting to support this.)Just a note on the Zooming out of pictures of the lander taking off from the surface,this was done via earth radio and had to be sent instructions on a count down,ie sent via radio wave to a set motorised tilt and turn tripod.

lol... Someone actually presented a picture of lunar moon dust from a sample brought back by Apollo astronauts as proof of the lunar landings being a hoax... People get dumber all the time...
