OK, maybe I am missing them or can't find the right catergory. However in view of todays news do you think that women have the right to decide whether or not they wish to continue with a pregnancy?

I fundamentally believe that women must have the final say over what happens to their bodies. Having said that, I don't think that men should be excluded from any decisions or responsibilities.

15 years ago a female friend I had slept with told me she was pregnant. We weren't in a relationship and she told me that she didn't expect me to be involved...she just wanted me to know. I asked her if she wanted to keep the baby and she immediately said yes. There was no further discussion on the matter.

On Saturday my Son and I are going to the coast to do some fishing...where I will closely question him on what he wants for his 15th birthday on 10th June.

The subject is a terrible dilemma...I suspect it is why you don't see many questions on here.

There is no right answer....there is only experience.

100% yes! Women should have the right to decide whether or not to keep an unwanted pregnancy. As the only foolproof way of not getting pregnant is abstinance and the majority of people do not wish to abstain for many a good reason then why not? I makes me seethe some of the things these anti-abortionists say. Yes they are entitled to their opinion however they only have a say over their own bodies not the rest of ours! How dare they pass judgement? I have never had an abortion and hope that I will never have to but if the situation arose and it was the right decision for me I would and that does not mean that i am a heartless person or a murderer. Just someone who wishes to have a choice.

Most of the questions on abortion are asked in the Pregnancy thread. Only one question about this was asked yesterday.

R.e the Scottish cardinal's comment's yesterday - he may be stating the Catholic church's stance on abortion, but he is opening up a can of worms with his inflammatory comments. What he seems to forget is that women still die giving birth in countries that do not allow abortion and contraception. So why isn't he going over and sorting out some decent health care for those women and girls?
And if he really cares about the welfare of such children, perhaps he should take the lead and adopt 30 children himself - with no financial support.

What he and other anti abortionists fail to realise is that for healthy pregancies, you need healthy women who want to continue with the pregnancies. Forcing a woman to have a child against her wishes is evil in my opinion.

This site used to be full of questions on this issue, much like the questions on religion which continue to dominate the question lists. It may be that Yahoo Answers has made it against the rules to talk about that issue. Try searching for "abortion" in the "search for questions" box at the top of the page.

It seems to me that women do have the right to end their pregnancy if they so wish.
I could never understand why the Catholic Church is so against abortion. Surely the soul of the aborted baby would go straight to heaven? Most of us who live in this world of temptation and sin may not be so lucky.

Are you kidding me? Look above and see the box that says "search for questions". Type abortion in it and watch what you get.... You will be over loaded with material to read that is posted here.

here's a link to all open abortion questions.

Why do you call it the "right to decide" why don't you call it the "right to kill," don't minimize what is happening by using general and almost unrelated terms. Right to decide, it makes it sound like if you don't believe in that then we are against a woman thinking, or deciding or using her own brain when what she is deciding to do is murder!
