I've seen Black Widows and they are pretty scary but the worst was probably what we think may have been a wolf spider. I've unfortunately had this experience twice. We saw a spider in the house so we went to smash it and when we did a whole bunch of baby spiders started scattering everywhere! Thankfully we were able to get a hold of some spray. The second time, same type of spider, again with babies on it's back but this one had a span including legs almost as big as the palm of my hand - yuk! Thankfully it was outside.
Our increased fear of spiders is due to the fact that my husband was bit once and it became infected with staph and spread. It was a painfully two to three month ordeal for him.

I was heading up to a cabin on a lake in Michigan, just having put out the campfire. I had a flashlight and I used it to see the door handle just as I was reaching for it. I stopped short because there was a HUGE spider right on the handle. I'm not necessarily terrified of spiders or anything, but I must admit I wanted no part of this one. I didn't realize we had spiders that big in Michigan. It was probably 4 inches in diameter at the very least with it's legs spread out. Maybe 5 inches. Anyway, I ran and got a video camera to tape it it was so unusual. I am 99% sure it was a Wolf Spider. Its markings looked exactly like the spiders in the photos at the links I am providing.

When my family and I were in Arkansas we stayed at a camping ground. There was a laundry mat there and my sister and I decided to do our laundry. We went down there and about half way through cleaning the clothes I turn around and right by the washer was this big hairy brown spider on the floor. So first thing we both do is scream. And it must've scared the spider cuz it went running. That thing was fast too!! So I ran for the washer and jumped up on it. In the end I ended up scared to fall asleep and having a bruised knee. But I still haven't see a spider that scary anywhere.

One time when I was driving a huge spider came down from where my sunroof is and was just dangling right in front of my face. I was going about 80 mph on the highway and started drifting all over the road (I HATE SPIDERS) I was able to grab a napkin and get the spider and throw it out the window but not before I had somehow managed to go across five lanes of traffic on the darn highway!

When we moved to Florida 4 years ago, I was making breakfast when my then 5 yr old daughter said..."Mommy, call 911" I asked her why and she says..."There's a giant spider on the door." I thought, hmmm...must be a daddy long legs. I turned to look and there was a HUGE Wolf spider in the doorway that was bigger than my hand! I kid you not!!! I started screaming, she started screaming, my dog started flipping out...kinda funny now...lol... I sprayed it with hairspray and it died. Now I have an exterminator come every 6 weeks to fog the attic space!!! *still shudders at the thought*

Once upon a time, i was vacationing at the Wisconsin Dells. I was there with my cousin and she and i were renting a cabin together. So one morning i woke up all sweaty and in serious need of a shower. I gathered my towel, shampoo, and soap and went to take a nice, hot shower. I was in the shower, (entirely naked), and washing my hair when i glanced at the corner of the shower. There was an ENORMOUS spider building a web there. It was big, and black and it was disgusting. I screamed and ran out of the bathroom naked, wet and covered with shampoo. I had to get someone to kill the spider so i could get all the shampoo out of my hair. I didn't take another shower that whole vacation.

lol...You'll never believe this. I called the cops on this one. This is kind of a long story but it's definitely worth the read!
About 9 years ago, I was getting ready to take a bath. I was reaching over to turn the water on when I saw it....it was a large black spider almost as big as my hand. I panicked because I am deathly afraid of them. I ran out of the room and grabbed the phone and phone book and hurried back (didn't want to stay gone for fear it would get away and I wouldn't know where it went - IT HAD TO DIE). I looked to see if there was a 24-hour exterminator. I couldn't kill it myself...it was too big and what if I missed? I wasn't taking any chances. I had never seen one that big and it might be poisonous. Well, there wasn't one. So, I called the non-emergancy line of the local Sherriff's Office to see if animal control was on call. The dispatch lady was laughing at me....actually laughing. I, on the other hand was crying...I was home alone and it was trying to get out of the tub. She said she had an officer who was in the area and did I want him to come step on it for me?? What? Of course I said yes. He knocks on my door and is also laughing at me. I showed him the bathroom and he took his flashlight and pulled the shower curtain back. He jumped in one leap out of the bathroom and said "OMG...that is the biggest f-ing spider I've ever seen!!". He ended up hitting this spider 14 times with a broom and the thing was still trying to get away. He finally slammed it with a boot and it died. It was still about 4 inches across with the legs curled up. He took it with him to find out what kind of spider it was. Luckily it turned out not to be poisonous.
My family and friends are still laughing at me 9 years later.

Hehe!like what happened to me,ok,I dident realy know that spiders live in houses in Washington. So when me and my husband (just back from our honeymoon!)walked into our huge rom,I went to put boxes down, and he followed me,I saw a spider and it started crawling towards me,ijumped back hit my husband dropped the boxes and jumped, screamed and ran as fast as I could out of the house. Also while I was packing up my apartment in Cleveland,a spider jumped on me,or maybe is came from off the celing, but who knows.I am so happy now though,My husband and I have 2 cats (both of which I am allergic to,they seem to be allergic to me too...)3 birds and around 30 fish (small fish). Both cats eat spiders(i love 'em for that).
