I have weak ankles when I wear nice looking shoes so I live in tennis shoes. They are comfortable to wear but I have one problem. After wearing them all day; it hurts at the top of both feet because I have high arches. My mother-in-law says that there is a special way to lace shoes like those. Anybody know how to do it?

i have the same problems, when i wear sneakers i buy velcrow ones that look nice still that way you can just loosen them up alittle. but try getting a (w) shoe that normally makes them alittle bigger on the top and they wont hurt so bad. as for tieing them try to leave the laces loose at the top that way there isnt alot of pressure there.

I am a certified shoe fitter of Nordstrom's and tell you what, it has nothing to do with laces or tying your shoes. It is simply because you are wearing the wrong shoes!

The height of the arch makes a difference in fitting shoes. It hurts the top of your feet also because HIGH ARCHED FOOT ALSO is a foot with a HIGH INSTEP, which sometimes has difficulty w/ a slip-on type shoe and that is why you said you live in tennis shoes.

But hey you gotta remember, tennis shoes, gym shoes usually has a lifespan of only 6 months. Here's what i suggest you to do..go to the nearest Nordstrom's Shoe dept because they would know which are the shoes appropriate for your feet. We are trained for that and we usually know how a shoe was made and what technology was used for that particular shoe.

The bottom line is, you have to get yourself the right shoes.

Try on different brands of shoes - I wear New Balance because they have a roomy toebox and room for my high arches.
