I believe it is a matter of frequencies. I think that people react well to genres of music whose frequencies are the most compatible with their own energy fields, and are really upset and put-off by those that aren't.

If this seems far-fetched to you, remember that sound waves of certain frequencies can shatter glass. Sound waves of another frequency when passing through two substances of different densities will create heat between the two surfaces - if you were exposed to that frequency, you would have burns everywhere your body was covered with clothing and be burn-free wherever it was bare.

It is known by researchers in the field of psychological warfare that certain frequencies produce certain emotions. They can produce fear, anger, and other emotions just by exposing someone to sonic vibrations in specific ranges.

I know that some types of very popular music actually make me physically ill if I am exposed to them for an appreciable amount of time. I have had to leave stores that played them over their pa systems.
Conversely, I credit the music that I really love for contributing greatly to my recovery after major surgery last year.
There was an experiment done a couple of decades ago where two identical sets of plants were planted in sound-proofed areas. Both were cared-for exactly the same, EXCEPT one set had one genre of music played to it all the time and the other had a different musical genre played to it all the time. I won't anger young modern music fans by revealing which was which, but one set of plants flourished and the other withered and died!.

In addition to the influence of sonic frequencies, we have the fact that exposure to what we like creates positive endorphins in the brain and exposure to what we don't like creates negative ones - and our brain chemistry certainly influences our actions and reactions. That should probably be considered a viable factor, too.

I would imagine it all has something to do with that horrible thing the subconcious...like I'm sure some people would rather hear a bass guitar than an electric acoustic because it might remind them of what their mother's heart beat sounded like invitro. I don't know that something like that could be controlled...that'd be kinda weird/ cool/ freaky...that's like Hinder's Lips of An Angel - I love the song because of the pure sound of the music, but the lyrics are harsh...I'm sure it all has to do with different tones and pitches releasing different hormones and levels of hormones / endorphins / adrenaline and things into the blood stream. Another mystery of the human body!!

People are drawn to patterns, especially patterns that make sense to them instinctively.
Music is rhythm, alternating patterns of sound, some enchant others don't depending on your tastes.
You know what?
I don't really know either, but at least I gave it a shot.
