I had a red-eared slider show up in my pond voluntarily. However I'm not really sure if turtles are a good idea in a pond though if you have fish as well. I've heard that they might be prone to nipping fish fins and tails.
As far as toads and frogs go, try a local fishbait shop to get tadpoles. Our bait store here stocked bullfrog tadpoles, they're pretty big and it's fun to watch them transform into frogs.

I would say painters and red eared sliders. Though I hope the pond is big enough. I would first try only 1 or 2 if it's small. Also some snapping would be OK but they would eat the other fish, toads, and frogs. They would fight with the other turtles and there's a good chance the snapper would win. I'm not sure if putting the turtles in the pond with the fish is so great though. I have heard that the turtles would nip at the fishes dorsal fins and maybe eat the fish. I would do a little more research than just asking on yahoo. Good luck. :)

Yeah, red eared sliders are the way to go. Just be sure to put some kind of fence around it unless you want him roaming around too much. If you opt for the fence idea then I think you could probably use something cheap and sensible like chickenwire, just make sure you put some of the chickenwire underground to prevent digging. Frogs will probabably show up all on their own, but some pet stores will sell tadpoles.

Alternatively, you might want to have a tank set up in your house for when winter sets in unless you want your turtle hibernating. I know that usually any temps below sixty degrees farenheight will prompt the turtle to hibernate. Do some more research on turtles and then decide if you really want one or not.

Oh, and yeah, a red eared slider will probably eat your fish unless they are large enough. I'd suggest buying koi in that case.

Any that are native to your area (but not wild-caught). I would go with Painted Turtles- they are hardy, easy to care for, and generally better pets than Red-ears- although harder to find in pet stores.
