Nancy Drew. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a girl.
Frank and Joe Hardy's stories play like a broken record. The plots almost always go like this:
1. Frank and Joe are on vacation.
2. A friend, acquaintance, etc. introduces them to a mystery
3. The boys find some clues
4. A catastrophe happens (someone gets kidnapped, stuff gets stolen)
5. Frank and Joe find the criminals/are captured by the criminals
6. Insert long, drawn-out confession/bragfest on the part of the criminal
7. Frank and Joe are left to die
8. Fenton Hardy/one of their friends/the police show up at the last minute and the criminal is captured
Now granted, Nancy Drew follows a similar pattern, but she isn't nearly killed every other book or bashed on the head (By the way, what are those guys' skulls made of? Shouldn't they have permanent brain damage from all the "blows to the head?"), etc.
I enjoy both, but I feel that Nancy Drew's mysteries are more interesting, more varied, and less chock-full of cliches.

As a girl, I preferred the Nancy Drew books. However, there is a series written by the Nancy Drew author where the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew work together to solve mysteries. I remember reading these and absolutely loving them.

Well, most guys prefer the subjects of the book to be male, so for boys, Hardy Boys is better. But girls tend to prefer the Nancy Drew books more. Both are very similar, basically just made for different genders.

Neither is better than the other, the majority of boys tend to prefer Hardy Boys and the majority of girls tend to prefer Nancy Drew, but there are also many who read both. I did.

I have read both, and I personally liked the Hardy Boys (FYI: I'm a girl), although both are very similar. I liked their methods of solving mysteries better than Nancy Drew's.
