The 3 b's didn't last very long.

He had shoulder surgery that he couldn't come back from the way he wanted. The Astros were making moves with a future without him in mind, so he decided that he had had enough and retired.

What are you talking about!? Two of those "B's" had careers that lasted over 15 years with the Astros....One of which is still going (Biggio)....

Bagwell had to retire due to a degenerative athritic shoulder. It cut short an otherwise illustrious career. I do think Bagwell makes a pretty strong case for the Hall of Fame... Biggio will be a first ballot entry, once he reaches 3,000 hits.

You're wrong. With today's free agency, it was amazing those guys stayed together for 7+ years.

As for Bagwell, he retired after last year. If you don't know that, how do make the statement that the 3 B's were short lived?

He was on the DL all of 2006, waited until the Astros paid the buyout on his 2007 option, and then officially retired. He is now an assistant to the general manager of the Astros (which could mean anything in terms of job responsibilities -- could use him as a roving hitting coach, some PR duties, whatever).

The Astros are going to retire his #5 on 26-August this year.
