Elka is an unusual name, and it is pretty too - both things a good name should possess! However, i do like the name Elka, but i think that Elkie would sound better as it sounds cuter to say, and looks nicer than Elka when written! Hope i helped x x x x x =)

There is a swedish name spelled Elke (elk-ee). I always thought it was different. I believe there was a famous person from a long time ago with that name.

I know an older lady named Elka at my church. I am not a fan of it, it would have to fit the baby.

It's "okay"........ but to me Elk are more masculine, a even with an a on the end- it still seems kind of "hard" for a girl's name.
I'd be more likely to go for "softer" earthy names, like:
Fawn, Fern, Skye, Raven..... all sort of rustic, but more girlie.

It's a little...rustic sounding in my opinion. But in Idaho, elk are something we shoot and eat, so that could be where my reluctance comes from.

I don't understand how anyone could look into the face of a beautiful newborn baby and actually consider a name of such shockingly horrific proportions.
