And a very wise Mom you had indeed ! She had it right. What comes next give them money for taking a shower? Pay them for eating their meals ?They should be praised for a good report card and maybe taken out for a movie and ice cream. You should have a star for this one my friend.

If I'd been asked this years ago I would have said no because I expected good reports from my children and got them.
Today there are so many distractions and bad behaviour in our schools that for children to do well and take advantage of a good education a reward is well deserved.
It's correct that they learn for their own benefit but if a treat helps them get a better future I can't see anything wrong and I always treat my Grandchildren when they do well at school and most of the time they say I don't have to, so that speaks for itself in my book.

No. I think they should be given the right to do some stuff like watching TV longer or staying up for a half an hour extra in the weekends. You never know what they do with the money. You could give them some money and put it in their svings.

I agree it is for them BUT..I think money is good..you are teaching them that they have to earn their day to make the money which is what we are educating them for so they can get a job one day that pays well.

I believe it is a small price to pay for such a great outcome. It teaches them to pursue their goals for a purpose they can reach.

I think it spoils the child, even though they might try a little harder, but if they do, they're doing it for the wrong reason. You should WANT to learn, right?!
