The leaves looked witlted and dark in color, almost dired out but the soil is still moist. I have not watered in a couple of days now and they are not getting any better? Is there anything i can do to get it to come back to life?

Sometimes they take a while to dry out. Just keep checking them. And no water until they've perked up. Are they in a part sun/ part shaded area? That will help them to get dried out. It should get better within a few days.

Sometimes plants just need some time to get back to normal. Once the petunia is there, only water when it is necessary. Let your plant 'tell' you by wilting (with dry soil) or by starting to flag a bit.

"if" they do recover......water only once a week! and make sure they're getting at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sun!

be sure that your container (basket) has drainage.. water is SUPPOSED to drain out when you water. If not.. your petunies are drownin'!
