The best approach is simple and direct -- just say, "Would you like to dance?"

Traditionally, one asks, "Would you like to dance?" Not very complicated. It isn't a marriage proposal, after all. Though teens often don't know the etiquette, it's proper to dance with lots of ladies, sort of an informal rotation, and not hog your date. Likewise, it's proper for the ladies to accept all requests unless they have an urgent and compelling reason (such as a restroom break) not to, in which case they should decline politely and make a counter-offer of the next available dance, unless there are formal dance cards involved and hers is already filled, but that device has pretty well passed from the scene.

There's no other way, be straight forward and just say do you want to dance, all she can say is yes or no, and most say yes, so go for it !

Say any of the following:

Do you want to dance?

Voulez-vous danser avec moi?

Quires bailar conmigo?

Are you here to dance, or just watching?

Walk up to her and say, "If I asked you to dance, what would you say?" If she says, "I'd say yes" then ask her. If she says, "NO!" then say, "Then I don't think I'll ask you", smile, and walk away.

Don't use the line, "If I told you you had a nice body would you hold it against me"!

Use the line, may I please have this dance!
