when we moved into this house it was oil furnace with a large orange oil container in the backyard. This large container is in very good condition and still has oil in it./ Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of this or who to contact?

Stick a sign on the front lawn "OIL TANK 1/4 FULL FREE FOR THE TAKING- YOU HAUL". I do this all the time and it is uasually gone in hours.

If you know where the fuel oil was purchased, call them up and ask them to pump out the old oil. You might have to pay a few bucks and give them the oil, but that is the best solution.

Call the oil service company. They can drain it and may even offer to buy it if you want to get rid of it. Some people look for these tanks to fashion pig BBQ's out of.

advertise it for free. they haul. everybody likes free things.
