First let me ask you a couple of questions?
Do you get them often?
If so does the back of your neck hurt or or pain in neck?
How long do they last?
You may wish to try a Chiropractor and tell them your problem with headaches he may tell you that you have a pinched nerve in your neck causing them and need a minor adjustment.
Pinched nerves are a common problem with miss alignments caused by sleeping wrong or moving wrong.
Believe me it will be the best few bucks you can spend. I had a migrain for 2 weeks and took plenty of drugs and too many before someone suggested to me to go to a Chiropractor.
I went at lunch time and came back without a headache!!
I am a believer!! No more drugs for me.
Good luck

Peace in mind and calmness will also help you to reduce migrane besides medicine. Try doing Yoga!

I use Axert -- and it is no different than taking aspirin for me. The only difference I feel is that the pain goes away. No "high". However, different people react differently to these types of drugs, so your reaction may vary. But there are several "cousins" of this drug out there and another one may not give you a bad side effect if you are having one.

My mother had severe migraines, and she never got high from her meds. If she was lucky, they would knock her out. This was many years ago; better meds are available now.
I'm experiencing fairly chronic pain these days, including headaches, and I take Lortabs (like Vicodin). If I'm lucky, I can get rid of the pain and feel more normal. If you are actually experiencing pain the drugs won't get you high.

there are preventative medications your dr can put you on, i take mine at night before bed. there are also specific migrain meds that do not make you "high" they are non-narcotic. also i have found in numerous readings that many migraine sufferers are magnesium deficient. i take a supplement every day and it has helped tremendously, cuts the number and severity of them.
