While applying for Broadband connection for BSNL , they are providing options for purchasing modem as below

Type 1: Ethernet - 1, USB - 1 for Rs 1,200
Type 2: Ethernet - 1, Wi-Fi - 1 for Rs 1,800
Type 3: Ethernet - 4 for Rs 1,500 and
Type 4: Ethernet - 4, Wi-Fi - 1 for Rs 2,000

Can anybody explain which option is better and why? Also please tel what's ethernet, Wi-fi and USB used for in detail. Thanks...

These are refering to the type of connections that are on the modem that can connect to your computer.

Ethernet refers to a ethernet port
USB refers to a USB connection
Wi-Fi refers to the modem has wireless built into it.

The number after the port type tells you how many of those ports there are.

I would suggest type 3 as it will allow you to connect multiple computers to the internet at the same time using ethernet cable, or type 4 if you want to do the same and use wireless networking to share the internet connection without wires.
