This is like asking which came first, the chicken or the egg! The 90's was an era that was great for Hip Hop! The number one song was probably Jay-Z's Hard Knock Life. A close second, Dr. Dre-Nutin' but a G Thing, third-Snoop Doggy Dogg-What's my name, Fourth-2Pac-California Love, and fifth-Biggie-Big Poppa! But man, all of these are classics!

Thinking back to the early 90's thru '95 (the year I graduated from h.s.; guess I'm telling my age again)....

But anyway, it depends on what you mean by hits because you could name several MC Hammer joints; he had many "hits" in the 90's. I'm not going to dis Hammer (he has his place in Hip-Hop history) but when I think of true Hip-Hop hits during the early-mid nineties, 1 joint pops up in my head immediately:

"Nuttin' but a G Thang"
Dr. Dre featuring Snoop
The Chronic
1992

Damn, I can't believe it's been 15 years!
