I'm teaching a two-week class about movies to kids aged 10-13 at my local community college. One day's topic is actors; and, since my favorite is Al Pacino, I wanted to show either a clip or several clips from some of his movies.

What might be a good scene or scenes to show?
Please keep in mind my age group when answering!

Cheers!! :)

I would suggest a scene out of 'Scent of A Woman' (1993). This is considering the age set of your class. Colonel Slade and Charlie Simms (Chris O'Donell)

Though it's been a while, but the theme of the film, mentoring a boy, should provide good material for the project. It is essentially about teaching integrity, self pride, self respect and honour.

There was a scene where the old blind man taught the boy how to stand firm, not lie or compromise his values and be proud of his background. Lots of scenes like that. The dialogue is:

'I can tell ya this, he won't sell anybody out to buy his FUTURE, and that, my friends, is called integrity - that's called courage- now that's the stuff leaders SHOULD be made of'.

'Now I have come to the crossroads in my life. I always knew what the right path was. Without exception, I knew, but I never took it. You know why? It was too damn hard. Now here's Charlie. He's come to the crossroads. He has chosen a path. It's the right path. It's a path made of principle that leads to character. Let him continue on his journey. You hold this boy's future in your hands committee. It's a valuable future. Believe me. Don't destroy it. Protect it. Embrace it. It's gonna make ya proud one day, I promise you'

I recommend this. All the best.

The tango scene from Scent of a Woman. Possibly the scene where he defends Charlie - not sure of the language at this moment. Check it out

I really can't think of any movies for that age group that is appropriate. Most are PG-13 or higher

He was amazing in 'Scent of a women', as far as Al's movie's go, it pretty clean!
the ending is very uplifting and you may want to focus on the part.
