I collected the badges from the jam when I was a child and had a golliwog and never made the association between them and black people until I was told about it as an adult.

However, I have since read the old Enid Blyton books about Noddy and the Golliwogs and the gollies are portrayed as lazy and naughty. At one point Big-Ears refers to their "naughty black faces" - is this acceptable or is it laying subconcious conditioning?

Yes they are. They are the equivalent to American "black face" actors like Al Jolsen.

no. its just politically correct idiots making everything racist. and the lazy and naughty gollywogs is true to the real young wogs of today
