Could the Cyclops have built the asteroid belt?

They used to hurl huge rocks when someone made them angry.

If the Kuiper belt were taken into the stories of the creation of the celestial bodies, that would be a plausible explanation, however I am unaware of a cyclops constellation. While I know that is not a requirement, it would make the explanation fit better than if the cyclops in question were here on earth. Thinking of a heavenly cyclops throwing stones would fit together tidily.
