ok i hope my answer isnt to late. first take out a tampon. you have to relax all your muscles. either put 1 leg on the toilet or sit down on the toilet. spread apart your legs and with your pointer finger and finger closest to the pinkie finger spread apart the 2 flaps of skin or watever you call them. with your middle finger hold the tampon so the string is facing away from you. then push the part were the string is into your vagina. the tampon will come out of the plastic and go into the vagina. the string should be hanging out. if you feel the tampon or it feels rong fix it so it is not crooked. wen ur not in the water try to were a panty line just in case. hope this helps it did for me :)

Three things:
1. wear a cute outfit & don't go swimming
2. You will stop flowing while in the water (that is a physiologic response)--swim--then go quickly inside & change (I've done this is the flow is light)
3. Practice with tampon. You can do it in the shower to practice. Get a slender sized one, with a glide type applicator. You insert into vagina (feel around first), aiming a bit back towards your back-push in as far as it will go then push plunger. You might want to cut the string a little shorter so it doesn't hang down your leg. (If you feel comfortable--you could ask a friend for help too). Raising one leg (they say to put it on the toilet etc) helps locate the area. Do not forget to change them frequently. To remove: sit on toilet & pull string slowly down into the bowl (you cab "push" as well).

Please DON'T think you will stop menstruating in the water. Is not true and will lead to a great deal of embarrassment.

Someone gave you a web site with better instructions than the box. Relax, in is near impossible to really hurt yourself inserting a tampon.

After you have used them it is very unlikely you will ever go back to pads. Your period should not mean you have to stop doing whatever you want. Swim and enjoy yourself.
